Atromitos – PAOK: Mixed zone

What Yevhen Shakhov and Efthymis Koulouris said in the mixed zone of the Peristeri Municipal Stadium after the final whistle of the second leg against Atromitos for the Greek Cup quarter-finals.

08.02.2018

Efthymis Koulouris was excellent against the Peristeri side, contributing a goal and an assist to PAOK’s victory. After the final whistle, he spoke about the rest of the season and the team’s improvement. He refrained from picking a preferred rival for the Greek Cup semi-finals though:

«It was a very good game. It was important for me to help the team win. We are in the Greek Cup semis and we can focus now on the league. We all wanted to extend our winning streak and we knew that we were in for a tough encounter against Atromitos.

I have no preferred opponent for the semis’ draw. We are in the last four, we are waiting for the draw and now focus on the encounter against AEL Larissa. We have two big objectives for the season, of equal importance. Defending our Greek Cup title is challenging. PAOK vie for trophies and are league contenders. No matter which cup we land, it’s most welcome.

We are close-knit group, we know what our coach is asking of us and there is chemistry, we bring it out on the pitch. Things didn’t go so well at the start of the season, but it took patience to get us here«.

Yevhen Shakhov, PAOK’s top scorer in the competition, was on target again against Atromitos after his goal against Toumba and spoke about several issues after the second leg:

«I am very happy. Thanks to Koulouris for the assist. I hope we keep it up and I can lead the top scorers’ list until the final.

Prijović was ruled out of the match so that I can… score!

It’s very important to keep winning for as long as we can. It was a tough encounter, it took us a while to net that first goal, but we eventually won.

Regardless of the rival we land, we will try to do our job and qualify to the Greek Cup final. As for our winning run, it’s important for us, but we are only interested in our next opponent«.
