There was a black and white flavor to Greece’s “restart”, while there were international returns for Ingasson and El Kaddouri. PAOKfc.gr brings you a round-up of the results and performances of PAOK’s internationals who were on duty this past week.
Greece’s national team showed a positive glimpse of a brave new era under Dutch coach John v’ant Schip. Although the Greeks lost 2-0 in Italy at the Stadio Olimpico, the team then produced a much-improved display at the OAKA in Athens to defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-1.
Dimitris Limnios and Alexandros Paschalakis played key roles in both games and both players put in excellent performances, the latter picking up his first two caps, while Dimitris Giannoulis also played the whole game against the Bosnians.
Iceland lost 0-1 to France and beat Andorra 2-0 in Reykjavik. In the match against the Andorrans, Sverrir Ingi Ingasson made his return to the national team.
Omar El Kaddouri came on as a substitute in Morocco’s friendly with Libya, which ended goalless, but our midfielder was also unlucky to get himself injured and he was forced out of the action just eight minutes after coming on. This meant he missed the second match against Gabon.
Anderson Esiti came off the bench for Nigeria in a friendly against Brazil in Singapore that ended 1-1, while Enea Mihaj did not take part in Albania’s two Euro 2020 qualifiers. The Albanians lost 1-0 against Turkey but managed a 4-0 victory over Moldova.
