Last season ended with plenty of stress for the Vissini. Although they secured theit top flight status in the final few games of the campaign, what left a heavier impression were the numerous internal squabbles, coaching and player changes, and all the baggage that comes with those things.

This summer started in very much the same way. Former coach Gordan Petric, who and already completed the team’s preparation and planning during pre-season, then left the club in early August. Club president Alexis Kougias decided to hand the reins to Michalis Grigoriou, and this turned outto be a crucial decision.

The 46-year-old technician with plenty of top-level extensive experience, accepted Larissa’s proposal, also wanting to restart his career. He may have not had much of a say in recruitment, but the squad he inherited had been well reinforced.

The spine of last season’s time was kept largely intact, and the new additions made helped to raise the quality level. Specifically, the likes of Dauda, Assoubre, Giakos, and Michail, as well as Warda and Kace, who came in on loan from PAOK, significantly boosted the strength of the Larissa roster. And this has shone through in the early part of the season.

The Vissini lie sixth in the standings with 15 points, with a record of four wins, three draws and three defeats, and playing some attractive football in the process so far. Everyone at the club is now aiming for a European place, and they are preparing for a tough battle ahead in the coming weeks and months.
