Turning a page ahead of OFI Crete
A defeat – especially one that comes in such an important match – is never pleasant. It was a feeling we had forgotten about, but it’s part of football. And by the laws of physics it was going to happen at some point it. Eventually it came in Charilaou. The loss has cost us psychologically, but that’s where it ends. Life, and the struggle to retain the league title, goes on.
PAOK now turns its attentions to the next match, the Greek Cup clash with OFI in Heraklion.
Following the defeat against the Yellows at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium the team got together at Nea Mesimvria. Those who took part in the game remained in the gym and swimming pool for recuperation, while the rest of the group completed a dynamic session out on the training pitches, with the focus on fitness conditioning, while afterwards some rondo followed as well as a friendly match on half of the pitch.
Dimitris Giannoulis is suffering from a hip injury and his condition will be assessed on Monday (06.01). Leo Matos has a stomach upset and will not be available for the match in Heraklion, but he is expected to be fit to face AEK.
Douglas Augusto was once again troubled with a groin issue and he will have an MRI scan to further assess his injury.
Jose Crespo, Omar El Kaddouri, Leo Jaba and Pontus Wernebloom all continued their respective individual programs as they look to overcome their injury problems.
On Monday (06.01) the Dikefalos tou Vorra will train again at 11:00 at the club’s Nea Mesimvria training base and will depart for Crete in the afternoon.
