The Future is Here for Michailidis and Diamantis
PAOK FC would like to announce that Giannis Michailidis and Apostolos Diamantis have extended their contracts with the club until June 2023. The Future is Here for the generation of 2000.
Born on February 18, 2000, Giannis Michailidis joined from Giannitsa in 2016, making his presence felt instantly in the PAOK backline.
With full seasons first with the Under-17 team and then with the Under-19’s, he celebrated winning the league title, the team’s incredible unbeaten run, and some great moments in the UEFA Youth League. He is also a Greek youth international.
From March of 2019 he was added to the senior team squad list, while over the summer he also took part in full pre-season training and has remained in the squad ever since.
This season, Michailidis trains with the «big boys», while he takes part in the Under-19 matches. Just a few days ago, on January 15 against OFI in the Greek Cup he made his full senior professional debut.
Apostolos Diamantis also joined the PAOK Academy in 2016. Born on May 20, 2000 in Serres, he started out at Panserraikos.
Initially after joining PAOK, he began playing for the Under-17 side and then the Under-19’s, playing alongside Michailidis in the heart of the defence and also won a league championship medal.
In the summer of 2019 he was loaned out to Volos, where he has made nine appearances in the Super League, while last October he also earned a call-up to the Greece Under-21 side.
PAOK FC, with its eyes firmly fixed on the future, has rewarded the two players with new contracts which tie them to the club for another three-and-a-half years.
