And now for some football…
The preparations are over. The debates go on, and they won’t stop. Now though, it’s time for football. Whatever anyone says, and for whatever reason they say it, there comes a time when you have to do your talking on the pitch. To play. Only after that can any judgement come to pass.
This is how PAOK have learned to do things. To try and showcase the club’s strengths and overcome any obstacle put in front of it out on the pitch. And that’s what the team plans to do against Olympiacos. Because yes, the match is a derby, and yes it has a special kind of character to it, but that’s not enough to change this team’s philosophy.
Abel Ferreira and his players have done everything they can over the past few days. Now they are called upon to show the required character and quality at the Toumba in a match which can take the club back to the top of the table just before the Play Offs.
The final training session was devoted to tactics, while set-pieces also featured heavily. The finale also featured the classic friendly match with players playing out of their natural positions.
After the session, Ferreira named the following 19-man squad:
Paschalakis , Zivkovic , Rodrigo , Matos , Varela , Ingason , Giannoulis , Vieirinha , Esiti , Douglas Augusto , Mauricio, Misic , El Kaddouri , Biseswar , Pelkas , Lamprou , Limnios , Akpom , Swiderski .
