The reception and greetings between the players on the first day back felt a bit similar to when everyone returns from a day or two off. The break has been very short for any notion of doing a ‘reset’ and starting something completely new. Alas, it is what it is, and this is the case for the first gathering of the 2020-21 season.
The seemingly endless 2019-20 season now belongs in the past and at Nea Mesimvria, PAOK put its first foot forward for the 2020-21 campaign. With a few new faces, and a slightly different atmosphere, there was also plenty of appetite for hard work as the squad looked to show itself as being better, adn stronger.
The first training session had the feeling of trying to adjust after holidays, but Abel Ferreira and his coaching staff did not go easy on the players, organising a 90-minute session featuring fitness conditioning and some ball games.
The following players were on site at Nea Mesimvria: Paschalakis, Zivkovicm Rey, Melissas, Talichmanidis, Varela, Diamantis, Ingason, Mihaj, Michailidis, Matos, Giannoulis, Tsaousis, Rodrigo, Limnios , Tsiggaras, Balogiannis, Wernbloom, El Kaddouri, Douglas Augusto, Pelkas, Chatzistravos, Jaba, Tziolis, Warda, Biseswar, Stoch, Akpom, Swiderski, Koutsias
Pelkas, Ingason, Douglas, and Chatzistavos all training alone, following their individual training plans due to injuries that they are nursing from the end of last season. Anderson Esiti and Jose Crespo had pre-arranged some time off and will be back for training on Friday (31.07) at 18:30 in Nea Mesimvria.
