Sznaucner: «We have full respect for PAS, but nothing less than a win will do»

On how well the squad have gotten to know the coaching team:

«We have had a productive period and worked well with the players. A few of them were missing with their national teams, but we definitely came closer with the rest of the group who were here. We spoke with all of them and discussed areas where we want to see improvements. Generally, the international break did us good. Now we have a long list of fixtures ahead of us and we’re ready for that.»

On if the coaches have managed to get their philosophy across:

«We have worked hard on that part, especially the formation and system, which we’ve changed. The team is ready and we’re looking forward to the first game after the international break.»

On the three wins achieved in their first matches in the dugout and if that has helped them work more comfortably:

«Those wins have really helped of course, but the work doesn’t stop there. The team always needs to improve, either defensively or in attack. Our philosophy is to seek improvement constantly.»

On the bounty of goals that the team has been scoring, but also on the fact that the team has conceded in each of the first three games under the new coaching team:

«We changed the system and scored 10 goals in three games, playing in a more attacking style. We want to win possession high up the pitch, and to create chances – that is our aim. The more goals we score, the happier all of us are.»

On the players missing from the team:

«We are missing a few players, but we have a good squad. Someone else can come in and take advantage of the opportunity. For us it’s not about the names on the shirts, but whoever is in the best form.»

On Vieirinha’s return to action:

«Vieirinha is the club captain! Everyone is happy that we have Andre with us again. He is also a great help to us on the coaching team.»

On whether or not Vieirinha can play the role of a ‘coach’ out on the pitch:

«No, he is not a third coach, but he helps us in his own way. Both myself and Pablo played with him a few years ago, we know each other well. Now, however, there is a logical and necessary distance between us, since he is still a player and we are the coaches.»

On the match against PAS Giannina:

«PAS are a good side. They have been collecting points away from home. In terms of style, they are full of running and like to try and press high up the pitch. We respect what they have managed to achieve so far in the league. However, we are playing at home, we have to show our best side and win the game. We don’t have any other choice, only victory matters.»

On how the game will be won and lost:

«We have to be cautious of them on the counter attack. They are quick to break forward, and they put their opponents under pressure. Those are their strong points and what is where we need to pay most attention.»
