Ninua’s… nearly buzzer beater
In the match against Panetolikos in Agrinio, Nika Ninua found the net for the first time in a PAOK shirt. His goal clinched him his first individual award with the club since the Georgian’s free-kick was voted as November’s Regency Casino Best Goal.
PAOK had their backs against the wall. With the scores locked at 1-1 in Agrinio, the Double-headed Eagle were heading for an unscheduled loss of points. Then, up stepped Nika Ninua in the 88th minute. The Georgian’s CV is littered with references to his set-piece skills. And confirmation of this ability came in Agrinio.
Ninua placed the ball with confidence and stepped up to curl home a wonderful free-kick strike, leaving the opposition goalkeeper with no chance to save it, and ensuring PAOK went home with three points.
In the poll for the Regency Casino Best Goal for November, the Georgian’s strike received 48,84% of the votes to claim the award.
In second place was Christos Tziolis’ goal against PSV Eindhoven at the Toumba, while the podium was complete by Adelino Vieirinha’s effort against Lamia, the Portguese’s first goal of the season.
