Kagawa wins Protergia Fans’ Man of the Match award
Shinji Kagawa came out on top in the poll for the Protergia Fans’ Man of the Match for the Greek Cup match against Lamia.
PAOK got a 1-1 draw at Lamia in the second leg of their Greek Cup quarter-final tie, which combined with the 5-2 win in the first leg at the Toumba saw the Double-headed Eagle sew up their place in the semi-finals. PAOK were the dominant side despite making many changes to the team lineup, missed some key opportunities for more goals – including a penalty, while they also hit the woodwork.
Shinji Kagawa was the standout performer for the visitors on the night. The Japanese midfielder played his first full 90 minutes in a PAOK jersey and produced a performance of that demonstrated his unparalleled quality. Creative and in the mood, he was a central figure throughout, asking for the ball and distributing it cleverly to his teammates, also assisting in Ninua’s goal.
And in the poll for the Protergia Fans’ Man of the Match, Kagawa received 40.16% of the vote to win the individual title.
In second place was Nika Ninua, who scored a slick goal and also produced a positive display overall, while the podium was completed by Christos Tzolis, who was a constant outlet up front.
