Meeting about the club’s temporary relocation

PAOK FC President Ivan Savvidis and his executives held another meeting today concerning the search for the best possible options for the team’s temporary relocation during the construction of the club’s new stadium.

10.11.2021

Makis Gagatsis presented the options of the available stadiums around and near Thessaloniki, with a detailed analysis of their current situation and their development prospects.

For various reasons, the options of using the stadiums of Veria, Drama, Kavala, Xanthi, Ioannina, Katerini and Kalamaria were rejected.

The stadiums of Serres – with a necessary increase of capacity – Larissa, Panthessaliko and OAKA all remain as options. For the strategic decision on whether PAOK will strengthen its presence and ties with local communities that already have a strong «black and white» element, or whether it will make its presence in Athens more intense, will all be considered carefully and taken into account among the wider PAOK family, including the club’s supporters and the PAOK Athletic Club.

At the same time, the club’s financial director Mr. Goncharova was instructed, in the context of the proper preparation, to budget the expenses that need to be made in the case of using each of the candidate stadiums, as well as the other financial parameters of the temporary relocation. In the case that OAKA is seen as viable, an order was also given to find a training center that the team can use in Athens.

It was agreed that the final relocation decision should be made by the end of the year, given that within about six months of preparation, the team will have to relocate for between three to four years. At the same time, until then, the Presidential Decree is expected, which should incorporate all of the amendments that will make the construction of the New Toumba possible.

Final decisions will be made taking into account all of the above facts, as well as with the participation of the PAOK Athletic Club.
