Another draw for PAOK B [with pictures]
PAOK B recorded their third draw in a row as they were held 1-1 by Kavala away from home on Wednesday. The Double-headed Eagle moved on to 35 points in the Betsson Super League 2 and their next challenge is Saturday’s match with Almopos Arideas.
The match did not start well for PAOK B, and in fact, the hosts opened the scoring through Kayoubi in the 13th minute with their first opportunity. The Double-headed Eagle tried to respond, threatening several times. Koutsias thought he had scored an equalizer in the 27th minute, but his effort was chalked off for offside, while the Greek forward also hit the crossbar following a Tsaousis cross in the 39th minute. Finally, shortly before the break, the visitors’ pressure paid off. Tsaousis once more sent over a cross, and Panourgias handled the ball which resulted in the referee indicating a penalty. Koutsias then converted the spot-kick to draw his team level with the clock showing 45 minutes.
PAOK began the second 45 minutes in dynamic fashion as they set out to try and win the game. In fact, the visitors came close to scoring a second goal on two occasions. First with Koutsias on 50 minutes, and then again through the same player two minutes later. In general PAOK B were the better side as they passed the ball well while also looking solid at the back. The hosts, however, then threatened in the 75th minute with Kayoubi sending a shot cannoning off the crossbar, which proved to be the last clear scoring opportunity of the match.
