Soualiho Meïté joins PAOK
PAOK announces the loan signing of Soualiho Meïté from Benfica until June 2024 with the option for a permanent transfer. The player will wear the nuber eight shirt.
Born on March 17, 1994, in Paris, France, Meite began his professional career with Auxerre, making his Ligue 1 debut during the 2011-12 season. The following season Lille and Auxerre agreed a deal for the then 19-year-old Frenchman, with the former loaning him back to Auxerre to make 22 appearances, finding the net twice.
Meite returned to Lille, where he remained until the 2015-16 season, making 41 appearances.
In the winter transfer window of 2016 he moved to Zulte Waregem. He spent two years in the Jupiler Pro League, first on loan and then via regular transfer. The Frenchman featured in 58 games, scoring two goals and registering two assists, starring in the side that won the Belgian Cup.
In the 2017–18 season he returned to Ligue 1 again, this time for Monaco, with the transfer costing €8,000,000. At the «Monegasque» he played three times before going on loan to Bordeaux, where he made 19 appearances, scored one goal and provided two assists.
The following season he moved to Serie A with Torino. The Frenchman played for the club 94 times, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.
His performances attracted the interest of Milan, who signed him on loan in January 2021 and he played in 21 games, notching one assist.
The next stop in Meite’s career was Benfica. In Lisbon he made 27 appearances before leaving on loan for Cremonese in the 2022-23 season, where he made 35 appearances and produced two assists.
The French midfielder was chosen by PAOK to strengthen the midfield and now becomes a resident of Thessaloniki.
