Pantelis Chatzidiakos was born on 18 January 1997 in Rhodes, Greece. At a young age, he moved to the Netherlands with his family, where he joined the AZ Alkmaar academy in 2011 after beginning his football journey in the Panathinaikos youth academy.

Having progressed through AZ Alkmaar’s youth system, Chatzidiakos signed his first professional contract with the Dutch club in January 2015. He made his senior debut in the Eredivisie and gradually established himself as a key figure in the club’s defensive line. In December 2017, he scored his first Eredivisie goal in a 2–0 victory over VVV-Venlo, and from the 2018–19 season onwards, he became one of AZ’s defensive leaders. During his time with the club, he also gained valuable European experience, featuring in both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.

In 2023, Chatzidiakos took the next major step in his career by joining Italian side Cagliari. A year later, he continued his career with Danish club FC Copenhagen.

At international level, Chatzidiakos represented both Greece and the Netherlands at youth level before committing to Greece. After playing for the Greece Under-21 national team, he made his senior debut on 12 October 2019, playing the full 90 minutes in Greece’s UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying match against Italy. Since then, he has established himself as a regular member of the Greece national team.
