Dimitar Berbatov joins PAOK
PAOK FC announce the signing of Dimitar Berbatov who penned a deal with the “Double-Headed Eagle” until 30.6.2016.
Born in 30 January 1981, the Bulgarian striker has enjoyed an illustrious career with spectacular stats. In 635 club encounters he has netted 274 goals, adding 48 more in 78 caps with Bulgaria senior national side.
Berbatov kicked off his long career at PFC CSKA Sofia in 1998 (38 goals in 65 encounters) and then moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in January 2001. He remained with the Westphalia club until summer 2006 (96 goals in 208 matches), when Tottenham Hotspur spend more than 15 million euros to secure his signature (46 goals in 101 matches). Sir Alex Ferguson had to give 40 million euros to lure him to “Old Trafford” in 2008. He spent four seasons there and scored 56 times in 149 encounters. He then moved to Fulham FC (20 goals in 54 matches) before heading to Monte Carlo, where he spent 18 months at the ranks of AS Monaco (18 goals in 53 games).
His trophy cabinet is impressive: 2 Premier League titles, 2 Football League Cups, 2 FA Community Shields, 1 FIFA Club World Cup, 1 Bulgarian Cup and several individual honours, among them the UEFA Cup top goalscorer award in 2000-01 (7 goals for PFC CSKA Sofia) and the Premier League Golden Boot (20 goals in 2010-11).
