PAOK TV is Google’s top sports search of 2019 in Greece

PAOK TV, the first digital platform in Greece dedicated exclusively to broadcasting PAOK home matches using OTT (Over The Top) technology, is Google’s most popular sports search for 2019! Another significant benchmark which emphasizes its impact on football broadcasting as well as its impact on the public.

The summer was full of discussions, discontent and apprehension. The Super League was preparing for the new season and television landscape was characterized by huge uncertainty. It was at that time that PAOK decided to shake things up and make an effort to change the way people watch Greek football. This was when PAOK TV came to the fore.

It went against the common logic. There were (and still are) many opponents. There was also a lack of education, or familiarization, among the public with regards to a completely new way for people to watch football in Greece. The poor internet quality in various parts of the country was also an obstacle. And then there’s the logic of some that says «come on, it’s an experiment and won’t last». Piracy. Targeted cyber attacks. And overall, the ‘movement’ by many observers to try and show that the PAOK TV project will simply not work.

But, all this time PAOK TV has kept on going from strength to strength, developing its services daily. We talk to our subscribers and listen to their feedback. We explain, and we analyze it. We seek out any techniques to improve the user experience. We are in touch with tech giants of the global digital industry such as Amazon. We traveling to Europe for meetings with top executives. And we’re already preparing further development plans.
