The Down Syndrome Association of Greece: In Germany with PAOK Action
PAOK is much more than 90 minutes of a match. The club is a mindset and a code of values; it’s a way of life. It is a family that always offers its embrace to those who need it. No discrimination, with equal opportunities for all. PAOK Action is the Double-headed Eagle’s main weapon in this area. It’s the medium that gives access to everyone, to what they dream, to what they love. It is what made it possible for the Down Syndrome Association of Greece to travel to Dusseldorf and participate in a football tournament full of smiles and love.
The children of the association love football. They have a team, they train, and they don’t miss an opportunity to get on the field and enjoy the game. When the people at the association found out about the tournament in Germany, they turned to PAOK Action and the answer was… instantly positive. Obviously, without a second thought.
PAOK took care of everything so that the children and coaches could travel to Dusseldorf and live a unique experience. The athletes played and had fun with their hearts against 14 other teams with both disabled and non-disabled athletes, finished in 5th place in the tournament, and stole the show at the closing ceremony party, showing that apart from football, they are also excellent at dancing.
Beside them every step of the way were also many friends of the club who live in Germany, and whom created an excellent atmosphere for the children who wore the black and white shirt and made us all proud.
The delegation of the Down Syndrome Association of Greece and PAOK Action had the opportunity to visit facilities of other similar organisations and their facilities in Germany, while also meeting with the Greek Ambassador.
Because together we can make the world a little better!
