Under-19s beat AEK 3-1 [with pictures]
A quarter of an hour was enough for PAOK’s Under-19 team to show their quality and beat AEK 3-1 in a match that took place on Sunday afternoon in Nea Mesimvria. PAOK are now on 45 points and they travel to Ioannina to play PAS next Friday.
Malezas and Chatziathanasiou may not have found the routes to goal that they wanted in the first 45 minutes, playing against a compact and dynamic opponent, but they entered the second half with fresh impetus and momentum, playing some excellent football and scoring three wonderful goals.
In the 55th minute, Tzimas skipped past a couple of challenges down the left and picked out Adam, who opened the scoring with a close-range header. In the 61st minute, with a nice piece of individual skill and effort, and an equally great finish in the opposite corner, Smyrlis made it 2-0. AEK reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute, but once again Smyrlis, this time from Adam’s assist in the 66th minute, restored the two goal lead to make the final score 3-1.
PAOK lineup: Angelidis, Georgiadis, Deligiannis, Zilo, Sinanai, Scznauzcner, Smyrlis, Tsikos (69′ Goumas), Tzimas (85′ Chatsidis), Kalogiros, Adam (75′ Athanasiou).
