PAOK young guns called up for internationals
Greece’s Under-19 team are preparing for the Elite Round in Ireland and 10 PAOK players have been included in the squad as they look to qualify for the final phase of the European Youth Championship 2023.
Those selected are: Dimitris Monastirlis, Nikos Deligiannis, Zisis Tsikos, Dimitris Kottas, Haris Georgiadis, Konstantinos Goumas, Lambros Smyrlis, Lefteris Tasiouras, Nikos Spirakos and Stefanos Tzimas (born in 2004 and 2005, while Tzimas was born in 2006). The squad departs on March 19th and return on March 29th.
It’s worth remembering that our national team won the first place in the first qualifying phase in Switzerland and in the Elite Round phase they are aiming to win first place in Group 5 which also provides qualification to the final phase. The fixture schedule is as follows:
22.03 Estonia – Greece 21:30
25.03 Greece – Slovakia 21:30
28:03 Greece – Ireland 21:30
Meanwhile, the Greece Under-21 side have a friendly against Hungary (24.03.2023, 17:00 at the «Georgios Kamaras»), as well as the premiere of the 2025 European Championship qualifiers against Belarus (28.03.2023, 17:00 at the «Apostolos Nikolaidis»). From PAOK, Konstantinos Balomenos and Panagiotis Panagiotou have been included in the squad.
The PAOK Academy, of course, «boasts» another young international, also born in 2006, in the shape of Max Scznauczner, who is included in the Polish Under-17 squad for the Elite Round in Portugal. The Poles are in a group which includes the Czech Republic, Portugal and Slovakia.
