The fairytale Klagenfurt
Wild nature, a magnificent lake, castles, fairy tales with dragons and romance are the ingredients that compose the exquisite setting in the popular tourist resort of Klagenfurt, where the second leg of the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League against Wolfsberger will take place. The game will be played in this city at the Worthersee Stadion, as the natural home of PAOK’s opponents, the Lavanttal-Arena, does not meet UEFA standards.
- The famous Klagenfurt, although in Austria, has a certain Mediterranean atmosphere. It was the residence of the romantic composer Gustav Mahler, but also a place of meditation for the poet Raine Maria Rilke.

During its history, the city was tested by the epidemic of the «Black Death» (1564, 1598), strong earthquakes (1571, 1690) and riots, of a religious and national nature, as the city also had residents of Slovenian origin. In 1809, Napoleon’s troops destroyed a large part of its walls, while the city was «wounded» in both World Wars.
- Klagenfurt’s most famous castle is Tentschach, where legend has it that some brave knights killed the dragon and liberated the area.

- The Minimundus theme park (26,000 m2 of lush green area) hosts about 170 models, obviously to scale, of great buildings and monuments of human civilization, such as the Acropolis, the Taj Mahal…
- The city is close to the border with Slovenia. Ljubljana is only 84 km away.
- It is the seat of the University of Klagenfurt.
- It has an airport, which was built in 1925.
- It is worth trying an oversized Stavlis steak, schnitzel of course, but also drinking beer.
