PAOK leave Kavala with a point
Despite taking the lead and looking odds on to take all three points, PAOK B conceded an 82nd-minute equalizer, meaning that they left Kavala with just the one point as the match ended in a 1-1 draw at the Anthi Karagianni Stadium, in the match that took place on Sunday afternoon for Matchday 5 of Super League 2. They are now on four points and are already preparing for the difficult mission to the Kaftanzoglio Stadium for the next matchday.
A tense game in the first quarter, it was a battle of personal duels and a flurry of mistakes.
It did eventually slip into a decent rhythm along the way with PAOK B maintaining control, but not avoiding the mistakes that almost cost them. Initially in the 38th minute when Nikolakoulis cleared Kountouriotis’ header off the line, but also in the 43rd minute when the PAOK goalkeeper saved with his foot, while Kountouriotis was through on a counterattack.
And at the end of the half, in the 45th minute, Tsopouroglou broke forward, before firing in a diagonal shot to open the scoring.
The home team began the second half in aggressive fashion. PAOK B were lucky in the 48th minute when Aliatidis’ header hit the crossbar. Shortly afterwards, unfortunately, Hatsidis was injured and had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher. And almost in the next phase, PAOK B came close to scoring a second goal, but Giannikoglou impressively saved Lucas’ header, after a free-kick taken by Tsopouroglou.‘ In the 76th minute, it was Nikolakoulis’ turn to make another save. However, in the 82nd minute, the PAOK B ‘keeper was finally beaten as Bregou made it 1-1.
