PAOK B beaten by Kavala
PAOK’S second string made a sluggish start to the game, were slow to react, and found themselves chasing the game very early on, all which contrived to them slipping to a 2-0 defeat by Kavala, in their Super League 2, Matchday 14 contest which was held on Saturday afternoon at the Kabaniakos Stadium.
PAOK B made a lackluster start and found themselves a goal behind only in the ninth minute. Papadopoulos was tripped in the penalty area and Sifnaios successfully converted the penalty. The home side failed to react, with the exception of perhaps a good shot from Kanis in the 25th minute, which was impressively saved by the Kavala goalkeeper. In contrast, the visitors had the advantage, which they converted into a second goal in the 41st minute with a header by Aliatidis. This was preceded by an excellent save by Nikolakoulis in the 39th minute to deny a close range header by Sifnaios.
The Double-headed Eagle should have reacted in the second half, and they tried, but their effort was just not enough to turn the match around. PAOK B did come close to scoring a consolation goal through Ikobong in the 63rd minute but his header sailed just wide, but also via Guitersos in the 82nd minute, whose header also went just wide.
PAOK B are now called upon to regroup, because the next matchday sees them face POT Iraklis at home.
