An important away win for PAOK B [with pictures]
One goal was enough for PAOK B to claim another important victory. PAOK’s second string beat Makedonikos 1-0 in Efkarpia, in their Matchday 5 Super League 2 Play-outs contest, which took place on Saturday afternoon. The Double-headed Eagle remain four point cleart of second-placed Nestos Chrysoupolis and seven ahead of the relegation zone. The next game is an away match against Kavala.
The game began with a minute of silence in memory of Kleomenis.
PAOK B were somewhat sluggish at the start, allowing Makedonikos to create two dangerous goal attempts inside the first quarter of the first half. The biggest opportunity came in the 12th minute, when Stergiakis blocked the ball on the line. Then it was PAOK B’s turn to show their superiority, and they created at least three dangerous opportunities (once through Gitersos and twice via Moustma), but failed to find the net.
PAOK B increased the pressure in the second half, playing more dynamically and they scored in the 58th minute through Pedro Lucas’ header, after Jimenez’s corner kick. Although Makedonikos reacted, the truth is that PAOK B defended well and largely absorbed the pressure exerted by the home team as they pushed in search of an equalizer.
The Double-headed Eagle had opportunities to extend the winning margin, in the 70th minute through Tsifoutis and in the 82nd through Raihani, but neither plauyers could add to the scoreline, meaning the match ended 1-0 in PAOK B’s favour, giving them three more important points.
