PAOK B beaten by Kavala
Despoite going ahead and missing further chances, even having a penalty in injury time, PAOK B ultimately fell to a 2-1 defeat by Kavala. The home team claimed the victory in their Super League 2 matchday 6 play-outs contest, which took place at midday on Sunday, with PAOK remaining on 24 points, Nestos following with 23 and Kavala in third with 20 points.
The match was finely balanced in the first 45 minutes with PAOK still having most of the possession. And after Nikolakoulis averted the danger in the 13th minute, in the 20th minute PAOK found a way to take the lead. It came out of a counter-attack with Adam passing to Gitersos, who made it 1-0 to PAOK with a well-placed shot. In fact, the visitors then missed a great opportunity to double their advantage in the 26th minute, when Raihani attempted to chip Ioannidis, with the ball narrowly going over the crossbar.
The second half started with Kavala looking more lively and pressing well, and they eventually equalized in the 69th minute through Rova, who took advantage of a defensive lapse and beat Nikolakoulis from close range. Raihani had a great chance to put PAOK back into the lead in the 58th minute but it was not to be. The home team then continued to move the ball around better, taking advantage of PAOK’s lack of composure. In the 77th minute they scored, but the ‘goal’ was ruled out for an offside decision.
In the 82nd minute, PAOK missed another great chance with the Kavala goalkeeper denying Kanis from close range. Shortly afterwards, Mustma also sent the ball into the net, but he was flagged for offside and the goal was not counted. And then, three minutes later, Kavala made the turnaround with Sifnaios scoring in the 85th minute to make it 2-1.
Tsopouroglou missed the chance to drar level from the penalty spot in the 94th minute, after Kanis won the spot-kick, but he failed to convert it and PAOK slipped to defeat.
