PAOK clinch friendly victory over Drama
PAOK claimed a 3-1 friendly win over Doxa Drama away from home on Wednesday afternoon in a match which allowed coach Abel Ferreira to try out some of his fringe players.
In difficult, wet weather conditions at the Drama Municipal Stadium, it was agreed by both teams before kick-off that only 70 minutes would be played. The PAOK lineup was made up of players who have not had as much playing time so far this season, as well as members of the Under-19 squad.
Fernando Varela and Jose Mauricio got some match minutes under their belts for the first time since they returned to full training following injuries, while captain Adelinho Vierinha also stepped up his match fitness by playing the whole match.
PAOK started strongly from the kick-off. Pelkas hit the woodwork in the opening minutes and there were several other missed opportunities before Doxa opened the scoring against the run of play with a set-piece.
In the second half, however, the Double-headed Eagle of the North stepped up a gear or two and leveled matters through Pelkas direct from a corner kick. The Joker then laid on a goal for Akpom in the 53rd minute, before Lamprou made it 3-1 with a confident side-footed finish.
