Football with the eyes of the soul
Some of PAOK B’s players were invited to play a different type of football with the Pyrsos Blind Sports Association. Fotis Pantekidis, Ermis Selimaj, Hisham Kanis, Ioannis Gitersos and Nikolaos Spyrakos wore eye masks to live the experience of how visually impaired athletes play football. They tried to follow the special ball, but in was in vain.
Believe us, it was extremely difficult, and this is only a small sample of the strength and will of people with disabilities. The Pyrsos team won, and even showed … magnanimity, letting the PAOK players take penalties, which also missed the target… The atmosphere was so great at the 5×5 pitch of EAK Mikras that nobody wanted to leave.
PAOK supports the Pyrsos Blind Athletic Association with financial support, so that it can participate in the 2023-2024 European Blind Football League, which will be held at EAK Mikras from the 1st to the 3rd of December 2023. PYRSOS is the only football team for visually impaired people throughout Greece.
It is always worth remembering that football is much more than 90 minutes of a match.
