Giannis Ambatzidis joined PAOK in 2014, and coached the Under-14s, continued with the same players at Under-15 level in the 2015-16 season, and contributed his knowledge to the Under-20 side. He was a member of the Under-19 coaching team, with which he has celebrated three league championships. He is also a member of the video analysis department. Ιn the 2020-21 season he belonged to the team of the first team, with which he won the Greek Cup and now belongs to the staff of PAOK B.

He is a graduate of TEFAA, holds a UEFA A diploma, and from 2007 to 2011 was the coach and technical manager of PAONE. Another highlight of his CV is that he was a volunteer referee in the Small Olympics, or the Games of the Small States of Europe, as they are officially known.

He speaks English, German and Spanish.
