A useful workout and another win for PAOK
PAOK defeated AEK Larnaca 3-2 in Zaltbommel, in their third friendly mach of pre-season on Dutch soil, with Alessio Lisci drawing some useful conclusions, testing different individuals and formations in view of the demanding season ahead.
The Cypriots took the lead in the 12th minute through Ivanovic, taking advantage of their good start to the game overall.
The first notable attacking effort from the Black and Whites came in the 24th minute, when Pelkas’ shot just went wide. PAOK gradually increased their performance levels and scored an equalizer in the 32nd minute, when Hatsidis applied a beautiful left-footed finish, making the first half scoreline 1-1.
At the start of the second half saw PAOK take control and complete the turnaround in the 59th minute. After some good work and creative play from Pelkas and Hatsidis, Jeremejeff took advantage of the AEK goalkeeper’s parry and sent the ball into the net on the rebound for 2-1.
AEK Larnaca’s response came three minutes later, with Ioannou equalizing with a header.
PAOK were not done yet, however, and the winning goal was scored by Taison. The Brazilian came off the bench in the 70th minute and just four minutes later, with a direct free-kick, he made it 3-2, giving his team their third victory in as many friendlies in the Netherlands.
The next friendly contest for PAOK is scheduled for Saturday (11/07) against Twente, with two matches (14:00 and 17:00 Greek time), which will be PAOK’s last tests on Dutch soil as part of the summer camp.
