Jorge Sánchez was born on December 10, 1997 in Torreón, Mexico and began his football career in the academy of Santos Laguna, where he matured and made his professional debut in a game against Pumas on September 18, 2016.
The Mexican full-back played three seasons in the Santos Laguna first team, recording 40 appearances and two assists, establishing himself as one of the most reliable right-backs in the Mexican championship, also winning a Clausura title.
In the summer of 2018, he was transferred to Club América, with whom he played for four seasons. With the América jersey, he made a total of 150 appearances, scoring two goals and providing eight assists, winning another Clausura, an Apertura and a Campeon de Campeones.
In the summer of 2022, he took the big step and moved to Europe, specifically to the Netherlands, for Ajax. There he played in 26 matches, with five of them being in the Champions League group stages, while also scoring three goals and dishing out three assists.
In the 2023-24 season, he was loaned to Porto, where he played in 23 matches, provided three assists and won the Portuguese Cup, before returning to Ajax. In the summer of 2024, Cruz Azul made him their own via a transfer and with their jersey he played in 65 games, counting three goals and five assists, winning the CONCACAF Champions League.
At international level, Sanchez is a key figure in the Mexican national team, having recorded 55 appearances, two goals and one assist. At the same time, he has participated in major competitions such as the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, while he has won the CONCACAF Gold Cup twice in 2023 and 2025 and the CONCACAF Nations League once.
